New Leaf Physical Therapy has been closely monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic response efforts, and plans for re-opening of businesses. On May 18, 2020 the office will re-open for in person Physical Therapy by appointment with Dr. Stephanie Leaf. Virtual PT will still be available. Private pilates, and classes will remain virtual. Safety is our main concern and we ask everyone to weigh the risk of exposure vs. staying home, in regards to scheduling appointments. What we are doing to protect you: Wearing masks to limit air contamination. We ask that you please wear a mask in the studio. Washing hands before and after each treatment. Clients entering the studio should immediately wash or use hand sanitizer. Scheduling patients in 1 hour intervals to avoid any overlap between patients, and treatment sessions will be shortened to 45 minutes. You and your therapist will have the entire office to yourselves. Sanitizing the office between each appointment. This includes high touch areas, individual treatment rooms, and any equipment that you may come in contact with. New Leaf PT is here for you virtually and in person when you are ready. If you have any concerns, or recommendations, about our safety protocols please feel free to reply to this email so we can continue to help and support each other during this reopening transition. Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater and is a continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption.  Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many tests (x-rays, MRI’s).  A high percentage of people suffering with pain and/or lack of motion may be having fascial problems, but are not diagnosed.

Better Birth Weight for Babies of Exercisers
I treat many women pre, during and post pregnancy and always encourage cardiovascular and stabilization exercises. Strengthening your pelvic floor and spinal stabilizers helps reudce pain, ease childbirth, and overall mental and physical health. The following article discusses how it also benefits your baby and sets him/her up for a healthier life too. It is never to early to start thinking about our childrens’ well being too.
