Continue reading below for  Stephanie’s story.
Last year I went on a wellness journey.  I was feeling out of sorts constantly, with massive headaches, hormonal imbalances, and chronic sinus infections that doctors wanted to operate on even though they could not say the operation would be successful.  I had hit a wall.  I was exercising regularly, but i was caught up in bad eating habits.  I was in bad routines letting my busy schedule as a physical therapist, mom, wife, and business owner take over and not carving out time to take care of myself.  I was over caffeinated and filling my body with processed foods after not eating all day long.  Something had to give or i was going to break.
I began working with a functional medicine doctor and health coaches.  The first step was to detox my body.  I spent 90 days on a clean food core diet, added in prescribed supplements, and began to see changes.   The initial changes to diet were hard, very hard, and I had to make concentrated efforts to stick with the program.  Friends and family were supportive and knew this was a good thing for me, as they witnessed my transformations, and saw that I began to be more present again in all aspects of my life.  Little by little I was able to re-introduce foods back to my diet and then i was able to discover the exact things that were setting off my headaches and sinus infections.  Obviously those items I try to avoid, but my diet is more balanced and clean now.
I was motivated by the early changes that were happening.  I kept up my regular routine of movement and exercise, and now have a daily meditation practice. The physical changes in my body were easy to see on the outside, but even more profound was the mental alignment and clarity happening inside.
The positive lifestyle changes helped me in the expansion of New Leaf Physical Therapy.  I love being a physical therapist and helping patients rehab and learn about their bodies.  Now I am able to help you further in your wellness journeys at New Leaf with our amazing new studio, movement specialists, and daily classes.
That is my story which i am happy to share if it can help anyone else begin their own journey and make some positive changes.
xoxo
Stephanie

Are you addicted to high heels?
In awe of Lady Gaga’s super bowl performance?
Great read to understand what happens to your biomechanics and tension lines in your body while wearing heels. You may even think again before putting them on for a night of dancing.

Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater and is a continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption.  Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many tests (x-rays, MRI’s).  A high percentage of people suffering with pain and/or lack of motion may be having fascial problems, but are not diagnosed.
This workshop will help you discover where your fascial restrictions are and how to use rollers and balls to ease those tension spots on your own.
