Fascia is a specialized system of the body that has an appearance similar to a spider’s web or a sweater and is a continuous structure that exists from head to toe without interruption.  Trauma, inflammatory responses, and/or surgical procedures create Myofascial restrictions that can produce tensile pressures on pain sensitive structures that do not show up in many tests (x-rays, MRI’s).  A high percentage of people suffering with pain and/or lack of motion may be having fascial problems, but are not diagnosed.
This workshop will help you discover where your fascial restrictions are and how to use rollers and balls to ease those tension spots on your own.
Rachel Goldstein is a Brooklyn native with an innate interest in movement. She believes in the complete unity of mind and body.
Rachel received a bachelor of arts in dance from Hunter College where she was formally introduced to the study of anatomy and kinesiology. Rachel discovered Pilates while healing a dance injury. She found it to be the best form of physical rehabilitation and functional movement training. Inspired to help others heal, she completed her Pilates certification through the Kane School of Core Integration under the direction of Kelly Kane. Rachel has studied with renowned anatomist Irene Dowd and has attended the FAMI workshop (functional anatomy for movement and injuries), held at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Hospital.
Rachel works with individuals who suffer from low back pain, disc herniations, scoliosis, joint replacements and various other injuries, as well as those who simply aim to maintain their health and wellness.
Committed to life-long learning, Rachel is currently studying to be a licensed massage therapist at the Swedish Institute. She is dedicated to making her clients feel at home and empowered in their bodies
